Meet the Sporting Family
About this event
We are delighted to host the 2nd in our series “Meet The Sporting Families” and welcome Kim & Archie Bailey to be joined in conversation with Roger Hart on Tuesday 4th March at 7pm in the magnificent surrounding of Wild Thyme & Honey.
Kim is a local racehorse trainer here in The Cotswolds based at nearby Thorndale Farm and has enjoyed success at the highest level. He has trained winners of the “Holy Trinity” Grand National Mr Frisk, Champion Hurdle Alderbrook and Gold Cup Master Oats. He was also only one of 6 UK based trainers to train a winner at the last Cheltenham Festival when Chianti Classico triumphed in the Ultima Handicap Chase.
An amusing and entertaining speaker Kim will recall the ups and downs of his training career and provide an insight to the world of horse racing ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
Archie is not following in the footsteps of this father but is pursuing a cricketing career which saw him make his 1st team debut for Gloucestershire CCC in September 2024 on the hallowed turf at Lords against Middlesex CCC where he took 4 wickets in the 2nd innings bowling medium right arm pace to help Gloucestershire to victory.
At 19 Archie has made a successful start to his professional cricketing career and will tell us about his journey so far and share his memories of that 1st team debut whilst setting out his plans for a career in cricket with out local county.
Join us for a welcome drink at 6:30pm before enjoying a three course dinner interspersed with stories from the horse racing and cricketing world.
Ticket price includes entry to the raffle and the chance to bid for some great items in the charity auction with all proceeds to Racing Welfare.
